| At the heart of our work are the members of the BTF Support Team. Specialists in brain tumour care, they offer expert advice on treatment, skills in pain and symptom management and psychological support to people living with brain tumour. This expertise is available from the point of diagnosis and in a variety of settings. Many BTF members are based in the community, helping people at home, while others support patients in hospitals. Some BTF members specialise in occupational therapy, physiotherapy and psychology, helping people cope with the particular difficulties the disease can bring. BTF members are an important resource for health care colleagues as specialists in brain tumour care they are able to give advice, provide up-to-date information and support to those caring for people with brain tumour. Wherever they are based, these memberswork as part of a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals, which cares for patients, co-ordinating care and providing continuity between hospital and home. In partnership with GPs, other volunteers, doctors and consultants, they have an important part to play in ensuring that each patient receives the best possible care and achieves the highest quality of life. They share their expertise in pain and symptom control and in psychological support, improving the standards of care brain tumour patients receive. They do this informally sharing their skills with community and hospital colleagues as they work together. They also take part in formal education, teaching students, volunteers, doctors and other health professionals. If you'd like to be a part of this team, send us an email right away. |
